Body Art Turns Heads In Times Square

NYC's Broadway is known for its bright lights and bustling crowds. But that wasn't what stopped passersby in their tracks yesterday. There was something much more colorful happening right in the heart of Times Square. People were stopping to look at models. Not the runway type for which fashion-forward New York City is famous. But rather free-thinking models who were having works of art created on their naked bodies by body painter Andy Golub.
Andy set up a makeshift studio at 46th Street and Broadway, where he got to work on his eye-popping creations. Onlookers grew. Cameras and smart phones were busy recording the event, which is not exactly typical. "When people actually come and see the body painting live they see that it's really very much not about anything salacious in any way. It's very much about creating art on the fly," says Andy.
In this crossroads of the world, Andy drew the attention of tens of thousands of people on the street and garnered press from around the world exposing them - probably many for the first time - to body art. Stories ran on local television stations and in the New York Post, Canada's Calgary Sun, and London's Daily Mail! One local television station even made its Facebook poll of the day about whether viewers would pose nude for an artist in public. Andy definitely was the topic of conversation.
Andy stopped by Mehron headquarters on his way into the city for his day of fun to pick up his body art supplies. He relies on our Liquid Makeup For Face, Body And Hair for his work. This highly-pigmented water based liquid makeup dries completely, is smudge-proof and long lasting, and is available in a wide range of colors and sizes.
